Archeology - Chant Chant Camp

Time seems to whip by at an astonishing pace when Archaeology's new release "Chant Chant Camp' is playing in my headphones. The Chicago-based band performs an intelligent style of music that people are quick to label as melodic post-punk math-rock. I, however, have no idea what that means. I do know, that the entire 9 track CD is sequenced in such a way that you might think you're listening to one very intense 31 minute track. There's a great moment about 2 and a half minutes into the 5th track where the music builds up to a dance-fueled kind of spazz-than-stop beat before sequeing nicely into 'The Island Sound' which features some pretty cool harmonies. The band has been compared to artists as diverse as Cursive, Q And Not U, King Crimson, Pinback and I even hear a touch of Modest Mouse. Below are a couple of downloads, but the CD really works best as a whole.
