The Fashion

Denmark's The Fashion have released a new self titled album that is about as infectious as an album can get. The five piece have been playing together since 1995, first under the name Joyphilter before settling on the much simpler moniker, The Fashion, that found them ripping up the dancefloor with their debut release entitled, 'Rock Rock Kiss Kiss Combo.'

Their music is danceable, yet I would never degrade them by referring to them simply as a "dance" band. This release has them straddling the line between rock 'n roll and new wave in a way that puts them in their own stratosphere of undivided mirth. They solidify what bands like Franz Ferdinand could only dream of doing. Some highlights of the album are 'Dead Boys', which starts off like a cool retro 80's flashback before the chorus' guitar chimes in and forces you to shake what your mama gave you. (I don't even know what that means, but I think I heard Queen Latifah say it once.) 'Like Knives' reminds me of The Faint a little bit, with it's anthemic shout proclamation of "you're so out of control, you gotta be more in control," being tailor made for dance floor shout along's across the nation. The band also proves that they have a knack for the standard pop song, showcased on tracks like "APT" and "Solo Impala."

The band makes their North American debut at SXSW at The Fader Party in Austin on March 14th. Their self titled full length will be available this Spring.
