Clothes Make The Man live @ the Rivoli

After coming across Clothes Make The Man's page over at myspace, I quickly sumbitted an article over at Indie Music Project in order to expose them to more people. They impressed me that much. It was great to witness their live show last Friday night as well. Playing to a group of probably less than 70 or 80, they did not let this hinder their zeal and enthusiasm for playing pure rock 'n roll. Right from one of the first songs, lead vocalist Ryan McLennan almost took a nasty spell to the ground when attempting to rock from atop a clearly unstable side table positioned in front of the stage. And that raw energy continued to excalate throughout the show. Even their cover of The Ronettes' classic "Be My Baby" sounded vital and fresh, mostly due to Ryan's gruff vocal abilities. Both McLennan and bass player Ross Machon claimed that I was being way too kind in my review, but judging by the dancing ladies and the headbanging guys in the audience that night, I'm not entirely alone in my admiration for this band.
