NXNE: Day One
Well, my first night of the NXNE was an interesting mix of success and failure. First off in the failure category, I found out too late that a friend of mine had picked up some wristbands for me and my wife through her work: free of charge! However, as my previous post pointed out, we already bought ours. Secondly, the time for The Ride Theory's show was mixed up so we completely missed their set. Drag.
But the bands we were able to catch more than made up for these two mild disasters.
First off, we caught a band called City Field. I didn't notice it at the time but standing there on guitar was none other than former Flashing Light/ Super Friend and current Guy Terrifico, Matt Murphy. Was that his brother Chris hanging out in the audience? These guys sported a rather eclectic groove and with lead vocalist Mitchell Wiebe doing his best David Byrne impersonation, they gave us the right mixture of throwback and originality to keep us in rapt attention.

Second there was a great little power garage-y type rock band called The Two Koreas. There were just a powerhouse of energy that brought the excitement level up to a very stimulating height that continued to increase as their set carried on.
You can hear their music over at their My space page
Gotta run, more updates tomorrow.
