The Ride Theory

Over the last few years, 60's garage rock has become incredibly popular again. Bands like The Strokes, The Hives and The White Stripes are all over the place. But for those who consider the Nuggets box set to be the penultimate source for all things garage, than likely the aforementioned bands just simply do not compare. They may wear their influences on their sleeves, but try listening to them next to the Kinks, the Sonics or the Stooges. Anyone from that era would likely not be impressed. Which brings us to Hamilton, Ontario's The Ride Theory. They are the real deal. These guys have obviously studied the influential 60's to the point where their sound would not be out of place next to to any of those classic bands. But they are not a mere throwback either. These songs so fresh and new, that given the right exposure, they could re-introduce rock 'n roll to a whole new generation. Also, their live shows are among the best I've ever seen. People do not jump up and down, they don't mosh, they don't stage dive, they dance! I'm talking go-go dancing, Ann-Margaret shaking, beach blanket bingo dancing! Now when's the last time you saw that at a concert?
